24-Hour SORA Training in New Jersey

The Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) requires all aspiring security guards in New Jersey to complete a 24-hour certification course with an NJSP-approved instructor. How to Get Your NJ Security Guard License — 3 Steps

SORA certification is a 3-step process that must be completed within 30 days of your application date:

Step 1: Register with NJ State Police

Apply online at eapps.njsp.org. The application fee is $75 (credit/debit card only). Save your login credentials — you’ll need them later. Print your Temporary Certificate of Registration as a PDF.

Step 2: Take This SORA Training Course

Complete all 24 hours of this NJSP-approved training course with Eddie Bonner. Attendance for the full duration is mandatory — there is no partial credit. Bring your Temporary Certificate and a valid photo ID.

Step 3: Get Fingerprinted

Schedule fingerprinting through IdentoGo ($68.98 fee). Book early — appointments can fill up 2-3 weeks out. Fingerprinting can be done before or after the class, but must be completed within your 30-day window.

Booking & Attendance Policy

Class registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment. Students must attend all scheduled hours — partial attendance does not qualify for certification under NJ State Police rules. If you are unable to attend a scheduled class, please contact Eddie Bonner as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling options.

  • Full attendance is mandatory for certification — no partial credit is awarded
  • Students must arrive on time; late arrivals may not be permitted to join
  • For virtual classes: webcam must remain on for the duration of the class
  • A stable internet connection is required for online training
  • Students who are absent or disconnected for extended periods may need to retake the class

Refund Policy

We understand that plans change. Our refund policy is designed to be fair to both students and the instructor:

  • More than 3 days before class: Full refund upon request
  • 1-3 days before class: Credit toward a future class, or 50% refund
  • Day of class or no-show: No refund is issued, but rescheduling may be available depending on class availability

Note: Government fees paid to the NJSP ($75 application) and IdentoGo ($68.98 fingerprinting) are separate from class tuition and are not refundable by the training provider.
